In certain spiritual practices, dance is believed to activate and balance the body’s energy centers or chakras. Different movements may be associated with specific chakras, promoting spiritual alignment and well-being. Through repetitive and intentional movement, dance can induce altered states of consciousness. Some individuals report experiencing a sense of transcendence or connection with a higher power during these states. This emotional expression is often considered a form of spiritual release, purification or unblocking of chakras.

As we journey through these 9 weeks program, we find freedom within each chakra:
- Freedom in our bodies.
- We free up our emotions and our sensuality.
- We find the freedom to take up space, to love, to speak our truth.
- We let our imagination roam free, and we open to a limitless connection with spirit.

About Chakradance
Chakradance is most powerful when we dance in darkness. Whether we close our eyes, wear an eye mask, or dance in a darkened room, the darkness helps us to turn our attention inward. In this internal space, it can feel like we are dancing in a waking dream. We may see, hear, smell, and taste things that have been previously hidden to us. We may meet aspects of ourselves that we have forgotten. Buried feelings or repressed memories may surface. We may open up to alternate realities or encounter loved ones who have crossed over.
Chakradance takes us deep inside ourselves. It reveals our darkness, our pain, and our wounds, but it also leads us to the beauty, the bliss, and the freedom in our lives. It helps us to experience all that we are. We may not always intellectually understand what is happening in our dance, but there is always great healing going on as we move the energy of our chakras. Chakradance is not something that’s meant to be analysed or overthought; focus instead on being in the moment and let the experience unfold.
Much like meditation, Chakradance is a practice. The more committed we stay to the practice, the deeper the benefits. Each dance is a step toward more freedom in our lives. With each dance, we release the next blockage and allow more energy to flow. Dance by dance, we move our way to wholeness and find a greater sense of balance in our lives.

Chakra Healing
The role of the chakra system is to help regulate the human energy field, commonly known as the aura. The aura is a dynamic, energetic matrix, which includes the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.
Every human being has seven major chakras and each one influences an aspect of our lives. From our instincts, sexuality and personal power through to how we love, communicate, use our intuition and connect to our deepest source of spirituality.
When you discover the power and the energy that resides within you, it is like coming home. Chakradance is a form of nourishment for your true self, for your soul. Blending free-flowing movements with particular frequencies of sound, Chakradance will free the energy in your body and open you to a deeper experience of life. It’s a practice of dynamic moving meditations.
Connect with your Chakras
In a darkened room, lit only by candle-light, we move to music created to resonate with the vibrations of each of our 7 major chakras. We dance with our eyes mainly closed, and our attention turned inwards, for unlike most other dance practices, Chakradance is about making a connection with our inner world – the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses.
The experience is like a waking dream – we dance up forgotten parts of ourselves, and release the memories stored in our muscles. Our aches and pains reveal their stories and our hidden fears unmask themselves. The experiences are deeply personal and reflect our own nature and history, yet at the same time we tap into the collective heights and depths of human experience.
Healing and Self-Discovery
Drawing on the wisdom of Jungian Psychology, Chakradance is a dance for healing and self-discovery. Each dance gives rise to different insights and feelings… and we use the creation of personal ‘mandala art’ as a way of anchoring our experiences back into our conscious world.
Each dance leads us closer to the person we are truly meant to be.
Welcome to Chakradance. Come and explore. Have fun. Find meaning. Let go. Come and look deeper into each chakra, each part of you, and experience more within the dance that is uniquely yours.
Harmony and Balance
Dancing through the ancient chakra system awakens not only our bodies, but expands the mind, and calls out to the soul. The chakra system provides us with a model for integrating body, mind and spirit. This model encompasses the whole of human experience and provides an opportunity to find harmony and balance within our lives. Carl Jung, the pioneer of analytical psychology, was one of the first westerners to draw inspiration from this model in relation to his work on what he called the ‘individuation process’, meaning the journey towards wholeness.
The chakra system forms an energetic ladder that bridges our material world with our spiritual world. We can use this ladder as a way of reaching higher realms of consciousness, and as we climb back down, we are able to integrate new levels of awareness into our daily lives. Working with the chakras through dance connects us to the core of our physical beings. Once this connection is achieved, other less tangible experiences of the mind and spirit can be contained, embodied and finally integrated.
The meaning of mandala
The meaning of the word mandala in Sanskrit is circle (Magic Circle). Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe. The circular designs symbolizes the idea that life is never ending and everything is connected. The mandala also represents spiritual journey within the individual viewer. So the first level is understanding the unity in cosmos and secondly each individual must find their own place within it. It is sometimes drawn as a circle enclosing a square with a deity on each side that is mainly used to aid in meditation and yoga. Mandalas have many uses apart from meditation as the the designs are meant to remove irritating thoughts and allow the creative mind to run free as well as relaxation. But ultimately people create and look at mandalas to centre the body and mind.
